metaphors by kpop

I'm having a moment with Kpop demon hunters. Probably not what I'd usually watch and I'm not familiar with the Kpop genre generally but I caught the end of it when visiting a friend recently so I thought I'd give it a nudge. And then I watched it again. And then I saved some of the songs to my car singing playlist.

Something about the story and some of those lyrics just got me right where I need at the moment.

cue my algorithm also having another moment:

I'll try not to suck the fun out of it by overanalysing but the whole thing about being taught to hide yourself and present this acceptable face to the world, and one of the characters even says that line I've often said too about being both too much and not enough, and it's easy to get carried away with the 'demons' in our heads. but the message is what really saves you, what really connects us, how we can be our true full magical selves is authentic connection with the flaws out in the open...

I just really loved the idea of music being that thing that 'saves our souls' too, the visual image of light filling our chests from experiencing live music like that - it's how I have always felt about that.

ok that's enough of that.
